Force Majeure & Unforeseen Events Policy
Last updated: August 6, 2026
Some events are outside anyone's control. This policy explains how WanderLuxe Travel handles them, and what you can and cannot expect financially. Reach our disruption desk at +1 (305) 555-0142 or booking@wanderluxetravel.com.
1. What counts as force majeure
- Hurricanes, typhoons, floods, wildfires, earthquakes, volcanic ash and extreme heat or cold.
- War, terrorism, civil unrest, coups, curfews and government travel bans.
- Epidemics, pandemics, quarantine orders and border closures.
- Airspace or airport closures, air traffic control failures and strikes by airline, airport, rail or port staff.
- Utility, fuel or water shortages, cyber incidents affecting reservation systems, and supplier insolvency.
2. What we do
- Contact affected travelers as soon as we have verified information.
- Rebook flights, hotels and transfers on the best available alternative.
- Substitute equivalent activities where a planned experience cannot operate.
- File waiver and credit claims with every supplier that publishes one.
- Stay reachable 24/7 until you are home or safely rerouted.
3. What we cannot do
WanderLuxe Travel cannot refund money that suppliers keep, and cannot guarantee a refund where the supplier issues only a future travel credit. We do not reimburse consequential costs such as extra hotel nights, meals, missed work or replacement flights bought independently — that is precisely what travel insurance is for.
4. Itinerary substitution
When a force majeure event makes part of a trip impossible or unsafe, we may substitute comparable services, reverse the order of the itinerary, or change accommodation of a similar standard. Such changes are not treated as a cancellation by WanderLuxe Travel and do not create a refund entitlement, though we pass on any supplier savings.
5. Supplier credits
Credits are issued in the name of the traveler, carry the supplier's own expiry and transferability rules, and are usually not convertible to cash. We record every credit in your file and remind you before expiry.
6. Safety comes first
If we reasonably believe a destination or activity is unsafe, we may postpone or reconfigure it. Follow the instructions of local authorities, your guide and your airline during any incident; refusal to do so may end your participation without refund.
